The condos would be built in two towers as high as 500 feet.
The partnership would buy the tract for $14.5 million; however, the soonest that Constructive Ventures could purchase the property is March 2013.
The $220 million project also includes 15,000 sf of retail and would generate approximately $4.8 million a year in tax revenue for the city.
Tim McCabe, senior vice president with Trammell Crow, said the company still plans to build a $750 million project at the former Green Water Treatment Plant, southeast of where the condos are to be built.
Read on why it might be a smarter investment than some of the skeptics believe: http://recenter.tamu.edu/pdf/1934.pdf
The RE Center at TAMU is a highly respected resource in the real estate biz and is known particularly for analyzing and interpreting economic data (complements coming from a UT alumna!). If you or someone you know is interested in knowing more about the condo market, please pass it on, or have them contact me. I would be happy to give them more information or personal tour!
